My very first job on set was a Production Intern on “East 5th Bliss”, later titled “The Trouble With Bliss” starring Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu, Peter Fonda and Brie Larson. I knew very little about production, but I only had one goal, and that was to outwork the paid Production Assistants on set. It worked! The very next film I worked on, that 2nd AD hired me as a Key PA.
I bring up that story as it not only set the tone for how I like to work, but very proud of the fact that I knew that’s what it would take to get to the next level. In an industry that’s Who You Know, and nepotism can get you everywhere, it’s important to work harder than the person next to you to keep yourself focused and thriving.
